This is the largest floor we build. Four hundred 2ft x 2ft panels, laid out 20 panels by 20 panels, covering 1,600 square feet of the Grand Ballroom at the JW Marriott Austin — enough dance floor for roughly 400 people at once. It went in on Saturday, January 21, 2023, for the after-party of a gala held in the same room.
A floor this size is a logistics job before it is a lighting job. Everything came in through the hotel's loading dock on a scheduled window, the crew started laying panels at 10:00am, and the room had to be clear again by midnight. The floor runs on a 12v supply rather than the venue's house power, so our crew ran its own extensions to the panel rows instead of asking the hotel to find us circuits — on a floor with 400 panels that is the difference between a clean setup and a room full of taped-down cable.

The small photo above right is worth a look if you have ever wondered what is under a light up dance floor: the white top panels lift out, and underneath is the aluminium frame and the wiring that carries color to every square.
Most rooms need a lot less than 1,600 square feet — we size the floor to the room and the guest count, starting at 12ft x 12ft. Use our price calculator for an instant estimate, or tell us the room and we will work out the layout with you.
